Biography

Dr. Trisha Schimek is a board-certified Family Medicine and Lifestyle Medicine physician whose career has been shaped by a lifelong passion for meaningful, root-cause care. She began her journey in medicine as a true full-spectrum family doctor—caring for patients in hospitals, clinics, and diverse communities across the U.S. and Latin America. Even early in her training, she gravitated toward prevention and empowerment, developing nutrition, fitness, and group education programs for patients in medical school and residency. She has been faculty in a Family Medicine residency program, where she loves teaching, mentoring, and helping future physicians grow.

Drawn to lifestyle medicine because it aligns with how she naturally cares for patients, Dr. Schimek focuses on simple, sustainable habits that reduce reliance on medications and elevate long-term well-being. She lives the lifestyle-centered approach she teaches, believing that progress—not perfection—is what creates lasting health. With experience as both a personal trainer and group fitness instructor, she brings movement, practicality, and joy into everyday life. She embraces sleep, mindfulness, and meditation as essential tools for managing stress with intention. Ever curious in her own kitchen, she loves finding new and creative ways to bring more fruits and vegetables to her family’s plate.

Training Institutions

Dr. Schimek completed her Family Medicine residency at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. She went on to complete the UCSF HEAL Global Health Fellowship, working with the Indian Health Service and Partners In Health in Mexico.

She earned her medical degree from Jefferson Medical College and holds a Master of Science from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, as well as a Master of Public Health and Tropical Medicine from Tulane University. She also completed her undergraduate studies in Neuroscience and Spanish at Tulane University.

Clinical Expertise

Dr. Schimek specializes in lifestyle medicine, helping patients prevent and reverse chronic disease through evidence-based nutrition, movement, restorative sleep, stress mastery, and sustainable daily habits. She is particularly passionate about supporting individuals in transitioning to a whole-food, plant-forward diet, optimizing metabolic health, and building fitness routines that enhance strength, energy, and long-term vitality.

Her clinical expertise also includes comprehensive maternal and child health, where she provides compassionate, culturally responsive care that supports families through pregnancy, postpartum, early childhood, and beyond. In addition, she has extensive experience in transgender health, and she has led innovative group visits that build community, connection, and shared learning for patients on similar health journeys.

Dr. Schimek loves exploring the world with her husband and two amazing kids—whether they’re camping under the stars, biking new trails, or hiking their way across California.
